After a delicious meal in Artesia’s buzzing Little India at Shahnawaz Restaurant, we were in the mood for something sweet but not just any dessert but we were craving for something desi, nostalgic, and satisfying. That’s when we spotted Saffron Spot Artesia, just a few steps away from where we were. This little shop is a goldmine for anyone who grew up on traditional South Asian flavors and misses them in a modern form.
The place is small and cozy, with bright colors and the they have such a unique flavors of ice cream that I have not had a chance to experience anywhere else. It is a sweet escape into all the flavors we grew up loving, only now served cold in scoops.
After a spicy meal or if you are just walking down Pioneer Blvd on a hot day, Saffron Spot Artesiais one of those places you walk into out of curiosity and end up telling all your friends about.
Here’s what we tried and absolutely loved at Saffron Spot Artesia:
My husband and I each ordered ice cream falooda and got to try different flavors in it. The falooda consisted of 4 different scoops of ice creams, vermicelli, rose syrup and basil seeds. The kids got their regular ice creams.
1. Saffron Silk Ice Cream
This is their signature flavor and it’s a classic for a reason. The texture of the icecream was rich and creamy with a hint of saffron that’s not too strong. It felt like a cross between kulfi and premium gelato. Every spoonful was indulgent and comforting.
Rating: 4.8/5 – The kind of flavor you think about later and wish you had brought a pint home.
2. Mango Ice Cream
My daughter is a fan of Mango and she likes to try out mango ice cream and mango lassi from different places. This time, my son and daughter both ordered a mango ice cream. Bright yellow, fruity, and refreshingly creamy without being overly sweet. I was looking for the taste of real Pakistani mango ice cream but it was a little different from the desi flavor and more like a fruity American Mango Ice cream.
Rating: 4.0/5 – Sunny, tropical, and just hits the spot.
3. Gulkand Ice Cream
This one was such a pleasant surprise! Gulkand, or rose petal jam, gives this flavor a floral sweetness that’s totally unique. It was rich, aromatic, and gives off those royal dessert vibes. If you have ever enjoyed Gulkand in paan or desserts, you’ll appreciate this scoop even more. It was very close to Rose flavor with the exception of rose petals in it.
Rating: 4.9/5 – Delicate, floral, and unlike anything else.

4. Paan Ice Cream
If you’re a paan lover, you should try this one. It had a distinct paan taste and true to flavor with just the right amount of sweetness. You can feel the signature paan aftertaste in every bite. Definitely not for everyone, but if you like paan, you’ll be hooked.
Rating: 4.⅖ – Refreshing and daring, a flavor you won’t forget.
5. Date with Walnuts Ice Cream
This flavor felt cozy and rich—perfect for those who love nutty, slightly caramel-like desserts. The dates add a natural sweetness and enhance the flavor of the ice cream while the bits of walnut give it great texture. It’s not too sweet, and that’s what we liked most about it.
Rating: 4.6/5 – Comforting and grown-up, with a beautiful balance of flavors.
6. Chikoo Ice Cream
Talk about nostalgia in a cup. This chikoo flavor reminded us of childhood milkshakes and fruit carts. It’s earthy, grainy, mildly sweet, and oh-so-creamy. A really soothing dessert for anyone who grew up loving this tropical fruit. This is the best flavor I have tried in ages.
Rating: 4.9/5 – Smooth, subtle, and a total throwback.
7. Rose Ice Cream
Loved this one! It was light pink in color and has a subtle taste of rose which is not over powering and not too sweet either. I am always a fan of Rose flavor ice cream and this one hit the right spot for me. It was very refreshing and aromatic and I truly loved the delicacy of the flavor.
Rating: 4.9/5 – Pretty, floral, and classic.

8. Chocolate Ice Cream
Last but not the least, my son ended up taking a scoop of Chocolate ice cream too along with mango in a waffle cone and it was creamy, rich and classic chocolate flavor.
Rating: 4.⅖ - Rich, dense, and creamy
